If you don't like this song, we ain't friends no mo

I hate to have an over-abundance of youtube videos on here, but sometimes, it is videos/songs like this that allow me to survive college. Without em, my connection to the part of me you guys dont know would fail to continue existing.

This the kinda song make you wanna forget about everything and everybody. Wake up in the morning in some dusty house south of the Mason-Dixon line just and feel it like "umph".

let's dance.

Bilal "Love For Sale" album...

For those of you who have been uneducated when it comes to that good music that reaches the soul, I would like to introduce you to my main homie Bilal. I have been listening to Bilal's music since I was in the fourth grade. Bilal comes from Philadelphia, PA. Bilal is a trained opera singer, and he can speak six languages. Bilal released "1st Born Second" in 2001, which was not commercially successful, but claimed hold to a large underground camp of followers. Bilal's lates album "Love For Sale" was shelved by his record company for not having much "commercial potential"...but has been leaked, and is highkey off the chain. Bilal is the bees knees.

I have to give credit to my friend Amaka over at NYU who told me about this album a few weeks ago. She was lucky enough to see him live.

Here are some of the songs from "Love For Sale" -- ALSO GO WATCH / LISTEN TO BILAL "LOVE IT" ON YOUTUBE...I CANT EMBED IT HERE....its a song from 1st Born Second.

you know I love it.

hard clay roads.

caught up in reality
his life became a tragedy
stranded in the land of hell,
jail,
and crack sells.
but what went up
had to come
down
so he'll live
and thrive one
day even
if it is on the other
side

i aint cryin (over spilled urng jurce)

i gotta tell you guys, lately i have been getting away with a lot of things. First I lie my way out of a ticket to a cop, and give him a fake name and address, i believe thats illegal. And just yesterday, in the grocery store across the street from my apartment complex, I ran mark free from ruining potential merchandise . Im sure you feel me on this one.. sometimes in grocery stores, you just dont wanna push around a buggy, especially in many LA grocery stores that are crowded out the wazoo. So, I skipped out on getting a buggy to push and looked for the little cute green cart thing that you are supposed to use when u have a small number of items to purchase. Well, there were none of these to be found...so I figured my hands would do just fine...Im walking, giving strangers the occassional smile, picking up butter, oatmeal, pine sol, you know.. the usual. Then, I get to the orange juice.....

Simply Orange is my favorite brand of orange juice because it does not come from concentrate, it does not have pulp in it, its tasty, and its just natural plain orange juice.

Now I must also tell you, Simply Orange comes in a heavy plastic bottle.

So, Im walking, strutting, looking fly....and out of nowhere, BAM BAM BOOM, Sundiata has dropped the orange juice, and it has busted all over aisle two. Also in aisle two were two Latina ladies about mid-40s, and a grocery store worker on his cell phone at the time. Sundiata looked at the women, looked at the grocery store stocker, kept on struttin as if nothing had happened.

I kinda feel that if i hadda stayed and lingered around, i would have been charged for something i could not utilize,... this recession has hit me hard, and that was not happenin....

moral of the story: dont ever linger around spilled juice, you might get your shoes messed up.

Aint nuttin been hannen so I aint been postin...

Sorry loyal readers, my new year's resolution to be more disciplined (in life, basically) has held strong so far, and has not allowed me to bring you anything of substance to the page.

I have been trying to find my way through the typical USC housing crisis that falls upon many a Trojan. Does one continue with on campus housing? Does one rent out a room in a house? Does one rent out an apartmet from an independent lender? Does one live with close friends? Does one reside with someone random? (NO) Does one go to Skid Row and set up shop?? (just think about it tho)

Ah, so for the fellow college scholar who is in the same situation as Sundiata, here are some tips one should consider when deciding about one's housing situation.

1. Get out there early and do some searching. Fall semester you should be eyeing up a potential camarade de chambre at least, and maybe, just maybe thinking about where you wanna live.

2. Don't don't don't live with someone that you dont know. Unfortunately, this school year, my original housing plans did not fall through (blessing in disguise?), and I live with a random roommate....its just awkwarrrrddd, and I wont do it again.

3. Dont live with your best best best friend. Well, maybe? idk...but i do know that sometimes rubbing elbows with your besty can turn out bad. Just sometimes. I am kinda glad to not have lived with my closest pal because I think the friendship would have suffered. It's like when you water a plant too much, it dies. Yeah, water maybe good for a plant, but waayyy too much of it can sometimes be fatal. (Unless you are my neighbors - they seem to be doin fine)

4. Find a safe affordable place. Dont let outside influences let you choose the place that charges 400 dineros more just because they have marble steps and a pool in the back. Nuh uh, not worth it. Also, since my university is in an area considered shady by some, just be careful about where you reside. If you wanna get a place deep in the hood over on Normandie and MLK because its cheap, cool, .. but remember you are going to have to get yourself home sometimes at night (probably on your bike) wearing a fly outfit, or possibly inebriated (for the drunkards) and that concoction just dont seem like it'd taste right...be smart.

5. If you're like me, you're gonna need to start saving money...saving early. Paying rent is a bizn**ch, but it got to be did. Pick up a second job, or a summer job, and try to at least have four months of rent on hand before you even start to rent the place out, things are just easier that way.

6. Have fun. Be clean. Decorate your apartment so that it fits you. You dont wanna come home to a drab apartment that doesnt feel comfortable, warm, and safe. No no baby, that is not how you reward a hard day's work. Do you and do it well.

Now will somebody please tell me why my roommate warmed up a burrito, came in the room to play his video game, heard the microwave go beep, continued to play the game, then warmed it up again, came back in the room, continued to play the game, heard the microwave go beep, continued to play the game, warmed it up again, heard it go beep a-gain, and is still playin the game!?!?!!!!!!!!! This fool need therapy 11 days a week.
